Fall in Westerville 2026: October Events, Parks, and Weekend Ideas
Fall is one of the best times of year to be in Westerville. The trees along Alum Creek start to turn, Uptown fills up on Friday nights, and the city's calendar gets packed with festivals, spooky fun, and plenty of reasons to get outside. Whether you already call Westerville home or you're thinking about moving here, this guide covers the October events, parks, and weekend ideas worth putting on your calendar this season.
Fourth Friday in Uptown Westerville: Midnight Madness (Oct. 23)
If you only do one thing in Uptown this fall, make it Fourth Friday. On the fourth Friday of each month from May through October, the city closes State Street and turns Uptown into a community festival with food trucks, pop-up vendors, entertainment, and the Uptown DORA, plus all your favorite Uptown restaurants and shops.
The final Fourth Friday of the 2026 season is Friday, October 23, from 6 to 9 p.m., themed Midnight Madness. It's centered in the Uptown Westerville District around 21 S. State St. Come early, grab dinner at a local spot, and stroll the street once it opens up.
The Great Westerville Pumpkin Glow
The Great Westerville Pumpkin Glow is one of the most popular fall traditions in Central Ohio. Heritage Park (60 N. Cleveland Ave.) is transformed with thousands of carved jack-o'-lanterns and pumpkin-themed displays, along with food trucks and entertainment. The 2026 event opens Friday, October 16, with evening hours from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
Tickets are required, and in past years they could not be bought at the gate, so plan ahead. Check the City of Westerville Parks and Recreation website for the full schedule and ticket details before you go.

Best Parks and Trails for Fall Color
One of the biggest perks of living in Westerville is how much green space is close by. When the leaves start to turn, these are the spots to visit:
- Inniswood Metro Gardens: 123 acres of gardens, woodlands, streams, and walking paths. Easily one of the prettiest fall walks in the area.
- Blendon Woods Metro Park: Wooded trails, pond views, and a nature center. Great for birdwatching.
- Hoover Reservoir Park: Open water views for walking, kayaking, paddling, and photography.
- Alum Creek Park North: Walking paths and picnic areas close to Uptown, so you can pair a walk with coffee or lunch.
- Ohio to Erie Trail: Westerville connects to more than 50 miles of trail, perfect for a fall bike ride.
Walk the America250 Westerville Mural Trail
Looking for something to do at your own pace? The America250 Westerville Mural Trail features 12 murals across the city. Visit them all by December 31, 2026 to be entered into a prize drawing. It's a fun way to explore neighborhoods you might not normally pass through.

Why People Love Living in Westerville in the Fall
A lot of what makes Westerville special shows up in the fall: a walkable historic Uptown, community events that bring neighbors out, and parks and trails that feel far away while still being close to Polaris and I-270. If you've been wondering what it's like to live in Westerville, a Friday night on State Street in October is a pretty good answer.
